« on: February 10, 2015, 08:29:45 AM »
Dear Newcastle Friends,

We would like to inform you, that in August 2015 we want to arrange an art symposium in Nové Hrady (Czech Republic) for youth from the Newcastles alliance towns. Through this messge we would like to determine interest in this action. We would like to ask you to look around in your area and contact potential interested youths (18-26). For now, we look for between two and four youth from each city. Below and in pdf file are more details; if you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us here or via e-mail (MJarolimek@seznam.cz). Please let us know within three weeks (end of February) what you think about it and how many potential candidates you have (with their names and e-mail).

Thanks a lot,
Michal Jarolímek
Nové Hrady

Newcastles Creative Session 12.-23.8. 2015

Art symposium in Nové Hrady (Czech Republic). The focus is on two kinds of visual art: drawing/painting and photography. The topic will be typical open air: architecture, nature, landscape. The youths will work several days outside and in our atelier under the guidance of professional instructors. At the end of symposium, we will open an exhibition of the work they produced during this session. The exhibition will run for two months in Nové Hrady.

For participants
You can meet new people with the same interest, visit new places, look at things from a different angle, and get new experience.
For the Newcastle alliance
It is new way to enhance the idea of Newcastle partnership. For us, it is a way to present our town as seen through the eyes of young people from different cultural backgrounds. When this meeting will be successful, it can be the start a new tradition annually or every two years taking place in a different Newcastle.

About 20 youth people around 18-26 years old, who are interested in visual arts and would like to look at new ways how to express. We are looking for at least completed first year in art school or proven skills as hobbyist but it is not necessary to be a fully educated expert. It is just a different experience for youngsters with a creative spirit and some basic skills.

Necessary equipment
For photographers is necessary to bring their own DSLR camera. A laptop with graphic SW and tripod are a plus but we can arrange a loan for that and other materials needed.
For the drawing/painting artists, you can take your favourite brushes, but all required equipment will be available here. All details will be solved later on an individual need basis.

How much money you need
Participants pay 190 € for food (full board starts first day with dinner and ends the last day with breakfast) and transport allowance.
Participants pay individual travel expenses to the Czech Republic, entrances to the monuments in optional excursions (around 10 €) and extra food and drink in pub (ordinary price of one beer 1 €)
We arrange accommodation (simple but clear rooms), lectors, equipment for creating and exhibition.
At this moment, we do not have any EU project funding for this. We will pay the organization and some other costs from the municipal budget and from local sponsors.

The first pre-version of program is in annex.
After the end of the official program, we are ready to be guides for who want spent more time here and visit some cities (Prague, Vienna), castles, and UNESCO monuments, go hiking or go rafting on the Vltava. This depends on the interest of the participants.
